No expense was spared when The Grand was built in 1906. At the time, the North Eastern Railway was one of the wealthiest companies in Britain. They wanted a headquarters that reflected that status, and they got it. Today, it provides a truly splendid backdrop for business meetings, conferences and events in York.
And the setting is matched by the service. A designated corporate business team provide 360 degree help before, during and after your event. Organisers and speakers have access to exclusive work spaces within the hotel's Business Centre for planning and preparation, and all rooms are fully AV and WiFi equipped. An e-butler is on hand to deal with IT gremlins and a business PA provides as-if-you-were-at-the-office service and assistance.
There is a range of room options to suit most needs: from beautifully appointed meeting rooms able to accommodate up to 20 people, to a space for up to 40 which was once the Chairman’s office, to the Grand Boardroom – a hugely impressive, oak-panelled room capable of hosting 120 guests.
This room once housed the biggest board table in Britain, and is still decorated with portraits of Chairman and General Managers of the North Eastern Railway.
A decking area on a specially designed terrace overlooking York’s historic city wall will be spacious enough to accommodate a marquee for 250 guests which, along with a cocktail bar, restaurant and private dining rooms, will provide a choice of sophisticated spaces and places to break-out, meet, relax and dine.
