Situated 6 miles south east of Manchester, Stockport is situated where the Rivers, Goyt and Tame join up and create The River Mersey.
Through the industrial revolution, Stockport became famous for its Hemp, Rope and Silk factories; however the major industry was cotton.
In recent times, Stockport has moved away from manufacturing and now hosts a varied number of businesses, many with head offices in the area. With its fantastic transport links including the nearby Manchester Airport and close proximity to other major cities, Stockport is an ideal place for conferences, business meetings and events.
