Drawing on National Geographic’s 120-year heritage of inspiring people to care about the planet, the Society opened its first global retail store in London on November 2008. With the retail store in London, and another that opened one month later in Singapore followed by Malaga and Kuala Lumpur in 2010. The National Geographic has found a new and exciting way for people to explore the planet.

The National Geographic Store in London is located on Regent Street, in the heart of London’s premier shopping district, the West End. More than a traditional retail environment set across three floors and approximately 1,800 square metres, the Regent Street store features compelling interactive visual displays and state-of-the-art design dedicated to stimulating, educating and inspiring visitors to celebrate global cultures.

National Geographic’s new flagship store brings together its products and services in a constantly evolving, culturally inspired setting. The store has dedicated unique spaces for private events and exhibitions, and offers opportunities for people to share, celebrate and conduct business.

Description

The National Geographic Store in London is dedicating four multifunctional zones for private events and exhibitions. The zones include the Auditorium, Gallery, Seminar Area and Café. Designed to host a range of events, these designated areas may be used for product launches, exhibitions, book signings, conferences, seminars, company meetings, private dinners, celebrations and other occasions.

The National Geographic Store employs a dedicated event management team to accommodate all aspects of any event at the Store, from arranging the menu to organizing special audiovisual support. For public events, the Store can also provide promotional support through in-store advertising and public relations services.

The seminar area is located on the first floor, and is equipped with the latest technology such as projectors and surround sound. With the capacity to seat up to 40 people and accommodate as many as 100, the area is ideal for small, intimate events such as receptions and seminars. The area offers Projector, Screen and Lectern all in high quality technology.

Located on the ground floor with large windows looking out onto Regent Street, the gallery measures 150 square metres and accommodates up to 100 guests for Reception. The area features Autopole, the innovative art display system that creates flexibility for positioning work around a given space. Often used for photography exhibitions, the gallery is also an ideal setting for other exhibitions, receptions, launches and networking events.

The Gallery is very versatile; the hanging system can be completely removed offering the area as a blank canvas to clients.

The store auditorium offers public lectures from some of National Geographic’s renowned explorers, authors and photographers, as well as free film screenings. A large, versatile space on the ground floor, the auditorium can seat up to 130 people and accommodate altogether 200 guests for Reception. The auditorium also features two large screens and the option for amphitheatre-style seating, creating an ideal setting for cocktail parties, presentations and product launching.


The Café at the National Geographic Store is another unique space, serving as one of the more popular areas in the store. Featuring a mosaic floor, Moroccan-style lamps and marble-topped counters, the Café is an eclectic, culturally inspired and global setting ideal for intimate gatherings and private dinners.
