Aberdeen business wins accolade weeks before opening conference venue

An Aberdeen business has been awarded an industry accolade a few weeks before opening a new conference venue in Altens.

AVC Media Enterprises won the Overall Business Award at the Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce Northern Star Business Awards before 1,000 guests at Aberdeen's Exhibition and Conference Centre. The award was recognition for the company's recent achievements in a range of categories, including production innovation and customer service.

According to allmediascotland.com, Keith Main, chairman and chief executive officer of AVC, commented on the company's new Aberdeen venue that will incorporate conference facilities, shortly to open in Altens: "With the opening of our new £3 million business centre at our Altens site due in the coming weeks, this is an exciting time for all - congratulations to everyone at AVC."

The company has undergone considerable growth over the course of the last 12 months, expanding into Europe and the Middle East and employing more than 90 staff in Aberdeen.

The new business centre will offer training facilities, meeting areas and events hosting.

In other news, the Press and Journal reports that the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre needs a substantial cash injection in order to remain open.
