1. Who we are

Venues.org.uk is operated by Directory Media Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17204465), registered office 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX.

In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Directory Media Ltd. “You” means anyone using the site. “Site” means venues.org.uk and everything on it. “Venue” means a venue, supplier or business listed on the site.

2. Agreeing to these terms

By using the site you accept these terms. If you don’t accept them, please don’t use the site.

We may update these terms from time to time. The version published here is the one that applies. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the updated terms.

3. What this site is — and what it isn’t

Venues.org.uk is a directory. We publish information about UK venues so you can find and contact them.

  • We are not a booking agent, event agency, broker or intermediary.
  • We do not own, run, inspect or accredit the venues listed.
  • We do not take bookings, deposits or payments for venues.
  • Any booking, contract or dispute is directly between you and the venue, on the venue’s own terms.

We are not a party to that contract and have no liability under it.

4. Enquiries

If you submit an enquiry form, we pass the details you give us to venues we think may suit your requirements. Those venues will contact you directly.

Once your details reach a venue, that venue is responsible for how it uses them. We can’t control what a venue does with your information or what it offers you. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your data.

You must only submit enquiries you genuinely intend to make, and you must not use the enquiry form to advertise, sell or spam.

5. Listing information

Listing content — descriptions, capacities, facilities, prices, photographs, availability — is supplied by venues or gathered from third-party sources. We take reasonable care but we do not verify or guarantee it.

Always check the details that matter to you directly with the venue before booking or spending money. Prices and availability change and may be out of date here.

6. If you list a venue with us

If you create an account or submit or manage a listing, you confirm that:

  • you are authorised to act for that venue;
  • the information you provide is accurate, current and not misleading;
  • you own or have permission to use all text, images, logos and other material you upload, and it does not infringe anyone’s rights;
  • your content is lawful and complies with advertising rules and consumer law.

You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, display, reproduce, adapt (for formatting and size) and promote your listing content on the site, in our search listings, social media and marketing. This licence continues for material we have already published or distributed; otherwise it ends when your listing is removed.

You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity on your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has access.

We may edit, suspend, refuse or remove any listing or account at our discretion — for example if content is inaccurate, unlawful, infringing, or breaches these terms.

You agree to indemnify us against any claim, loss, cost or expense arising from content you supply or from your breach of these terms. This clause applies to businesses only, not to consumers.

7. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • use the site for anything unlawful, fraudulent or harmful;
  • post or send anything defamatory, obscene, abusive, harassing, discriminatory or infringing;
  • impersonate anyone, or misrepresent who you are or who you act for;
  • send spam, unsolicited advertising, chain messages or bulk enquiries;
  • upload viruses, malware or anything designed to harm the site or its users;
  • scrape, harvest, data-mine, crawl or copy listings or contact details in bulk, by any automated or manual means, or use the site’s data to build or train a competing directory, database or dataset (including for AI training);
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its servers, or any account;
  • do anything that damages, overloads or impairs the site.

We may suspend or block access if you breach this section, and report serious matters to the police or other authorities.

8. Intellectual property

The site, its design, text, graphics, logos, databases and compilation of listings are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright, database right and trade mark law.

You may view, download and print pages for your own personal or internal business use in finding a venue. You may not otherwise copy, republish, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from the site or its content without our written permission.

9. Reviews and other user content

Where the site allows reviews, comments or other submissions, they must be your honest first-hand experience and must comply with section 7. We may moderate, decline or remove submissions. Views expressed are those of the person posting, not us, and we take no responsibility for them.

10. Third-party links

The site links to venue websites and other third-party sites. We don’t control them, don’t endorse them, and aren’t responsible for their content, products or privacy practices. You use them at your own risk.

11. Availability of the site

We aim to keep the site available but we don’t guarantee it. Access may be interrupted, suspended or withdrawn for maintenance, upgrades or reasons outside our control. We may change or discontinue any part of the site at any time without notice.

12. Our liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

The site and its content are provided “as is” and free of charge. To the fullest extent permitted by law we exclude all warranties, conditions and representations, express or implied, including as to accuracy, completeness, quality, availability or fitness for a particular purpose.

We are not liable for:

  • the acts, omissions, standards, safety, pricing or conduct of any venue;
  • any contract, booking, cancellation or dispute between you and a venue;
  • the accuracy or availability of any listing or third-party information;
  • loss of profit, business, contracts, revenue, goodwill, anticipated savings, data, or any indirect or consequential loss.

If we are found liable to you despite the above, our total liability arising from or in connection with the site is limited to £100.

If you are a consumer, this section does not affect your statutory rights.

13. Removal requests and complaints

If you believe content on the site is inaccurate, infringes your rights or breaches these terms, email contact@venues.org.uk with the page address and details of the issue. We will review it and remove or correct content where appropriate.

14. Data protection

We handle personal data in line with UK data protection law. See our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

15. General

  • These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us about your use of the site.
  • If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
  • If we don’t enforce a right, that isn’t a waiver of it.
  • We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another business. You may not transfer yours without our written consent.
  • No one other than you and us has any right to enforce these terms.

16. Governing law

These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your home country.
