Catrin Finch to open £3m Welsh conference centre

A special one-off concert is being held later this month to mark the opening of the new £3 million conference and performance centre in Wales.

Renowned Welsh harpist Catrin Finch will perform at the unveiling of the facility at Glyndwr University, which is being named after her, according to the Daily Post.

The 200-seat theatre and conference centre is equipped with the latest technology, featuring modern audio visual facilities, the newspaper reports.

Professor Michael Scott, vice chancellor of Glyndwr University, said the new facility will play host to conferences, meetings, exhibitions and receptions as well as staging small-scale theatrical productions, music events and creative art workshops.

The concert to open the Canolfan Catrin Finch Centre will also feature a performance from South American band Cimarron and will take place on July 23rd.

In May, the Queen opened a new £83 million sports village and conference venue in Manchester in front of huge crowds.
