Construction of new Coventry venue underway

Work has started to turn an existing building in Coventry into a new Premier Inn.

The new Coventry venue, which will see part of the former Coventry Technical College complex transformed into a 100-bed hotel, is costing £6 million, Hotel Designs reported.

Work started on the project last year, when the redundant 1970 annexe at the rear was knocked down.

The original 1935 building is still intact and features a stone facade and Doric portico, with the hotel chain to focus on retaining its art deco aspects.

An extra storey is to be built at roof level, the news provider noted, where 42 of the hotel's 100 bedrooms will be located.

Premier Inn currently also has another venue in Coventry, called the Coventry City Centre Premier Inn, which is located at Belgrade Plaza on Bond Street.

The Coventry South Premier Inn is located on the outskirts of the city.
