Glasgow venue teams up with GCMB for initiative

A new initiative will make organising events in Scotland easier, according to the Scottish Exhibition + Conference Centre (SECC) and Glasgow City Marketing Bureau (GCMB).

The Glasgow venue teamed up with GCMB for the programme, which will see the two organisations share event organisers' pain and gain.

Developed in consultation with world leading professional conference organisers, the Glasgow Model offers an entrepreneurial approach to sharing the risk associated with large scale events.

Ben Goedegebuure, director of sales at the SECC, said: "The initiative is a direct response to concerns raised by clients worried about delegate numbers in this economic climate.

"We wanted to offer a way to reduce the risk to our client whilst sending a confident message from the destination that we can deliver on delegates."

Earlier this year, the Glasgow venue, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, listed Trees for Life, Visit Scotland and Rod Stewart as winners of its Champion Awards.
