Harrogate venue invests in sales team

Harrogate International Centre (HIC) has made two new sales and marketing appointments, as the Yorkshire events space looks to attract new clients.

Alison Griffin is returning to the Harrogate venue as head of sales and marketing on a short-term contract, while Paul Ashton, formerly with G-Mex (now Manchester Central), has been appointed sales manager.

Ms Griffin will oversee all of the venue's sales and marketing activity, including the launch of two new event spaces which will be built over the course of the next year.

Last month, HIC announced that the contractor Wates Construction had been selected to carry out the upgrade at the event venue.

Harrogate International Centre director, Stuart Quin said the new appointments come at a "crucial time" for HIC, noting that "extensive reviews" of the venue's management structure are currently being carried out.

He added: "Like many other venues, HIC has faced broader industry challenges such as smaller budgets, shorter events and lower delegate numbers during the last year.

"Instead of sitting back, our sales team has worked more closely than ever with clients helping them to develop their events through new products and services."ADNFCR-1752-ID-19848639-ADNFCR
