Harrogate venue reports busy 2010

The last year has seen the Harrogate International Centre (HIC) go from strength to strength as the event and conference venue worked on growing its reputation, the HIC has said.

According to the Harrogate venue's head of sales and marketing, Alison Griffin, 2010 was both a very busy and successful year for the HIC.

"We undertook a huge range of national and international events where we continually demonstrated our ability to provide added value and world class experience to the organisers and events," she said.

Ms Griffin also revealed that the venue achieved more than £92 million for the local economy during the first six months of its 2010/2011 financial year.

Her comments come just weeks after the venue announced that a new director had been appointed.

Angus Houston, who has worked at a number of locations including The Ricoh Arena in Coventry, is to take on the role of HIC director at Yorkshire's largest conference and exhibition venue this year.
