Jongleurs to open six more comedy venues

Comedy chain Jongleurs is set to open six new venues across the UK.

The new venues will be located in Nottingham, Cambridge, Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield and Newcastle and the owners of the chain hope to capitalise on the current comedy boom.

This move follows the opening of three comedy venues already this year and plans are in place for more openings in 2011.

John Davy, Jongleurs co-owner, told the Press Association: "This fresh investment will help bring our unique offering to even more customers and new audiences.

"The appetite for a complete comedy and entertainment experience is stronger than ever and we are experiencing unprecedented demand from corporate and larger group bookings in particular who are looking for an entertainment one-stop-shop."

Jongleurs first opened in 1983 and has helped launch the careers of some of the UK's best known comics, including Paul Merton and Mike Myers.

There are currently clubs open in Nottingham, Portsmouth, Bournemouth, and London.
