London venue to host British Military Tournament

Earls Court is to play host to this year's British Military Tournament it has been announced.

Organised by INMG, the event will be presented by ABF The Soldiers Charity at the London venue.

The tournament, which will feature re-enactments of the history of the British Army, is being revived this year, having been scrapped more than a decade ago.

Other aspects of the show will include a field gun race, where teams compete to transport artillery pieces over a series of obstacles.

Major General Sir Evelyn Webb-Carter, the charity's chief executive, said one of the biggest challenges which the event organisers are facing is managing expectations.

"There are those who expect something completely different and those who expect it to be exactly the same. We hope that people who remember going themselves when they were younger will now want to go with their children."

A number of celebrities, including Stephen Fry, Joanna Lumley and Dame Judi Dench, are lending their support to the event.

Earls Court and its sister building the Olympia feature exhibition halls, conference centres, corporate and public London event venues. ADNFCR-1752-ID-19846819-ADNFCR
