Manchester venues unite to boost international appeal

Four major Manchester venues have joined forces with the aim of attracting more national and international business tourism to the area.

Ramada Manchester Salford Quays, the Imperial War Museum North, the Lowry and Lancashire County Cricket Club will jointly promote themselves under the banner of Quays Conferencing to strengthen their appeal to the events market.

The venues will run a series of weekend-long showcases designed to give corporate businesses and agents the opportunity to sample the facilities on offer.

"We will be hosting two major events for the industry over the next 12 months and feel confident that pooling our resources will pay dividends for all partners," said Anthony Zvirblis, spokesperson for Quays Conferencing.

The joint venture follows a report by events industry experts Oxford International which found that Greater Manchester is one of the most cost-effective locations to hold conferences in the UK.

Lancashire County Cricket Club is currently undergoing a £13 million development which includes the building of a new conference centre and events suite.
