Madame Tussauds London has announced that the next Olympian to be honoured with a place in the attraction is Jamaican running sensation, Usain Bolt. The figure will join the interactive sports zone before the Games kick off in July and will make a dynamic addition portrayed in his trademark “To Di World” pose. Work is already well underway and the figure will join champion diver Tom Daley (who was unveiled in early March) and his team GB mate heptathelete Jessica Ennis, as well as a host of sporting legends past and present – from Jesse Owens and Mohammed Ali to Ronaldo and Beckham. Ahead of the installation of the new Olympic figure, Merlin Events has announced the launch of its VIP Tour experience, which will see visitors enjoy exclusive access to Merlin Entertainments’ renowned London attractions: Madame Tussauds, the SEA LIFE London Aquarium and the London Dungeon. The VIP Tours include a “behind the scenes” of Madame Tussauds where visitors can meet the creators of Madame Tussauds’ famous figures; who will reveal industry secrets, handle marine life in the petting pools of the SEA LIFE London Aquarium, and come face to face with horrors of the macabre at the London Dungeon.
Michael Aldridge, General Manager of Merlin Events London said “After listening to Olympic organisers we have tailored the VIP Programme to integrate into the busy itineraries of VIP’s visiting this summer. We know they want to visit iconic attractions so we have created an experience that is unique and to a time that suits them.”
The VIP experience will see visitors get up close and personal with new figures at Madame Tussauds including the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge and Her Majesty The Queen, unveiled in time for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations. Visitors will also have photo opportunities with GB Olympic hopefuls in the Sports Zone including diver, Tom Daly captured soaring from a diving board towards the water. VIP’s can also snap themselves with a host of A-List celebrities, world leaders and Marvel Comic book characters.
Visitors can explore new marine exhibits at the SEA LIFE London Aquarium and encounter six foot West African Dwarf crocodile sisters in the enchanting Rainforests of the World Area. VIP’s will be treated to a personal Q&A session with a Marine Keeper and guided to the recently refurbished ‘Shark Walk’: where transparent glass is all that separates them from the shark tank beneath their feet.
Petrifying Ghost Hosts and a scare-raising show combined with humour awaits VIP’s visiting the London Dungeon. Brave VIP’s can experience the Dungeon’s newest ride: Vengeance, the UK’s first 5D laser ride which combines 3D film with 4D sensory effects to take visitors on a ghost hunt like no other!
