Plymouth venue plans major development

Argyle's Home Park Stadium could benefit from a multi-million pound development in the run up to the 2018 Fifa World Cup.

Although the bidding process is currently still taking place as to which country will host the football tournament, plans are being put in place for a new stadium, which will be able to host 43,000 people and increased hospitality facilities.

There will also be a new concert area, which will hold up to 4,000 people, and an exhibition hall, where a temporary ice rink could be located.

Further aspects of the development include a cinema, a new hotel and a student village.

Other countries which are currently bidding to hold the World Cup in 2018 include the US and Russia. Joint hosting bids have also been made by the Netherlands and Belgium, and Spain and Portugal.

The executive committee of Fifa are planning to announce their decision regarding the World Cup 2018 host country in December.ADNFCR-1752-ID-800028236-ADNFCR
