Somerset House reports rise in PR agency bookings

Central London events venue, Somerset House, has reported a significant increase in event bookings from PR agencies, which made up 32 per cent of the 192 events the venue delivered between October 2012 and October 2013.

The number of experiential events booked by the PR sector (which accounted for 18% of the total PR-booked events) also increased, with the majority coming from clients in the fashion, wine and culture sectors.

The venue’s Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court has proven a popular space for experiential events with recent functions taking place in the courtyard including Nike’s FlyKnit Experience and the London launch of the If campaign, where Somerset House’s exterior was used for a projection mapping show.

Head of Events at Somerset House, Emma Barrow, commented: “We are pleased about the growing demand from the PR industry, as we have worked hard to gain exposure and attract clients within this market; London Fashion Week in particular has definitely contributed in raising our profile in the fashion sector. With the consistent growth in our visitor figures, we are expecting experiential events to become increasingly vital to our events business.”
