Southport welcomes two new conference and event spaces

The North West coastal resort of Southport has announced the opening of two new conference and events spaces in the town; The Atkinson cultural centre and the Southport Genting Casino.

The much anticipated £17m arts and culture venue, The Atkinson, has opened up in the centre of Southport’s Lord Street. Set in a grade II listed building, the complex brings together four established venues: The Cambridge Theatre and Studio, the Atkinson Art Gallery, Botanic Gardens Museum and Southport’s Central Library.

The unique space features a 440-capacity proscenium theatre and a flexible studio with a capacity of up to 300 delegates alongside a number of breakout spaces, galleries and much more.

The brand new state of the art Southport Genting Casino situated on the Waterfront development provides conference and event facilities along with an incentive offering for visiting delegates.

Offering both gaming and live entertainment, the Genting Casino is suitable for all kinds of events with its bar area, dance floor, stage and entertainment zone as well as conferencing facilities and a restaurant which can expand into the poker area or outdoors to overlook the waterfront.

“The new venues are a really welcome addition to the town,” says Tourism Marketing and Visitor Services Manager at Southport Conferences, Steve Christian. “Not only do they add to our conference and events facilities but with this type of investment comes new restaurants, bars and other leisure facilities. This coupled with an increasing amount of hotels and accommodation options, all shapes up to a complete visitor experience for delegates and leisure guests.”
