Stars swing into action

Henmania will hit the Midlands when the tennis star visits the NEC Golf Show along with a host of other sporting icons.

Former British number one Tim Henman will be at the event along with ex-England goalkeeper David Seaman, former England and Surrey cricket captain Alec Stewart, Arsenal-legend Ian Wright and snooker star Willie Thorne.

And joining them, after his trip to Valhalla for the Ryder Cup, will be BBC presenter DJ Spoony.

The celebrities are all ambassadors for TaylorMade and will be representing the brand at the show while they take in all the latest products the golf industry has to offer.

As well as visiting TaylorMade’s custom-fitting tour truck the stars will be interviewed on the show’s stage and take part in the various interactive features including longest-drive and nearest-the-pin simulators and the 100ft putt.

Seaman, Stewart, Thorne and Spoony will be making their second appearances at the show after representing TaylorMade at the 2007 event.

Thorne, who was making his first trip to a golf show, said: “I think the show’s great. I’ve never been to a golf show before.

“It’s nice to have a look at the stands and see what other gadgets are out there. We’re always looking to improve and there’ll always be a gimmick out there to help you.”

Golf-show-veteran Spoony commented: “It’s a really good show. I’ve been to the London one before and it looks like there are more people here which is good to see and there’s plenty to enjoy.”

Stewart was also full of praise for the show saying: “I think the show’s good. It’s nice to see what equipment’s around and how they update it. The number of people here shows golf is a very popular sport.”

The NEC Golf Show runs from November 21-23 and offers the entire golfing spectrum under one roof.

A purpose-built american golf store, massive indoor driving range, numerous golf simulators and the 100ft putt are just some of the show’s main attractions and there are great prizes to be won.

In addition, hundreds of exhibitors will be showcasing cutting-edge golf equipment, from big brands offering custom fitting on their latest products, to one-man bands with the newest golfing gadgets.

Visitors can also sample the latest fairway fashions and hottest golfing destinations and a host of interactive features including the brand new Putt Black where golf meets snooker.
