Torbay conference venue still proving popular

The conference business in Torbay is still attracting businesses despite the global turbulence of the credit crunch, reports thisissouthdevon.co.uk.

The Riviera International Centre in Torquay will welcome 2,250 delegates from a variety of businesses for several corporate events between now and Christmas. Despite many firms reportedly cancelling conferences in order to save money, authorities at tthe conference venue in Torquay say this is not a problem they have yet suffered.

Barry Cole, managing director of the conference venue, told the website: "To date we have not had any cancellations nor have we suffered any drop in attendance."

He added that bookings for Christmas parties were in fact much higher than last year, indicating that the centre's future remains bright. Before the festive season arrives, the Riviera will play host to a range of events including the South West of England Brass Band Championships and the South West Grid for Learning Conference.
