VisitLanarkshire has enhanced its commitment to the business tourism sector by signing up to support the promotional campaign for the UK events industry, Britain for Events.
The partnership follows the destination’s launch of its countywide hospitality training portal BeLanarkshire in May and re-launch of its dedicated venues website Venueslanarkshire.com in July which further signals the county’s growing emphasis on the business tourism and events industry.
Through the association with Britain for Events, VisitLanarkshire will have a place and input at some of the industry’s leading business events and innovations, including ministerial steering groups and National Events Month in October.
Mark Calpin, Chair of the Lanarkshire Area Tourism Partnership, commented: "The business and leisure tourism sectors combined currently contribute around £317m to the Lanarakshire economy and, with an estimated three million visitors travelling to the area annually, we have a diverse events destination worth shouting about.
"Our business tourism product is continually growing and we strive to develop our portfolio of venues and strive to enhance this as much as possible. We’ve been proactive to develop our own industry initiatives and align ourselves with organisations that will help spread these messages and Britain for Events is a great step towards achieving this."
