The Yorkshire Event Centre has been shortlisted for the Large Venue of the Year prize at the Insider Yorkshire Business Tourism Awards.
Winners of the accolades will be announced at a ceremony in March, which will recognise the Yorkshire companies and venues that have contributed towards promoting business tourism throughout 2009.
The Yorkshire Event Centre stages a variety of shows, from trade and public exhibitions to corporate conferences, dinner dances and outdoor activity days.
Recent figures from the Yorkshire Tourist Board suggested that the facility and its sister venue, Pavilions of Harrogate, generated up to £36 million per annum of local spend.
"This is fantastic recognition of the high level of customer service and support the team here offers to all our clients and the contribution we make to the regional economy," commented Rowan Bennett, venue manager at the Yorkshire Event Centre.
Recent figures from VisitBritain showed that business and leisure tourism in Yorkshire added three-quarters of a billion pounds to the bottom line in gross domestic product.
