Burnley FC to build conference venue?

Burnley Football Club could build a new conference and exhibition space as part of plans to create the country's first Football University.

The club unveiled its bold Premier Plan today (February 8th) which includes designs for a StadiArena which would be a dual facility housing conferencing and exhibition venues for use all year round.

This StadiArena could also function as a rock concert venue and would be operated in tandem with matchday use.

The multi-million-pound proposals have already received the seal of approval from Prince Charles who visited the town on Friday and was the first to see the plans during a special trip to Turf Moor.

Paul Fletcher, chief executive of Burnley, said: "If you dare to dream, dream big, and this is not just about Burnley Football Club, this is about the whole town of Burnley."

Last week, AEG Europe submitted an application for detailed planning consent to build a 3,000-capacity event space and 450-bedroom hotel next to the O2 arena.
