Sodexo Prestige to launch RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2011 Hospitality and Catering App

From Monday 16th May iphone users will be able to download an Augmented Reality app from the Apple Store which will give them the location, menus, opening times and booking details of all restaurants and cafes at RHS Chelsea Flower Show later this month.

Designed by 360R for Sodexo Prestige, the app has been created so that guests can make the most of their day out at the world's largest flower show. RHS Chelsea is spread out over an 11 acre site at the Royal Hospital, and the app allows visitors to navigate the site by superimposing points of interest onto the real world via the iphone's camera screen. Guests can not only locate restaurant facilities and utilities at a glance, but also check to see what's on the menu each day.

Sodexo Prestige's Head of Online, Andrew Nicholson, praises the technology behind the app, "Augmented Reality (AR) helps us to provide our customers with a valuable tool for negotiating the green expanse of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. IPhone users are able to pin-point hospitality areas, restaurants and facilities within the show to within a metre, and are provided with clear navigation superimposed onto their camera screens.

Furthermore, with a simple tap of the screen our guests are able to view restaurant menus, opening times and even make bookings on the day.

Downloading the app will be as simple as taking a picture, through our use of Quick Response (QR) codes at strategic locations on site. We have done everything we can to help our guests make the most of their time at Chelsea, so that they can focus on having a wonderful day out."
