Weighting 2,250 tonnes and consisting of over 25,000 m of steel, the frame marks a significant milestone for the Kent venue, according to Rebecca Cardozo.

Cardozo, the venue director of the venue, said: "The Events Venue is fast becoming a reality, and the next 12 months are going to be very exciting."

"Early next year, we will also be revealing more information about the some of the events that will be taking place in this unique destination."

The venue, which is due to open in late 2011, will host exhibitions and other events.

According to Bluewater, it will play a key role in complementing and extending the shopping centre's retail and leisure offering.

The steel frame was manufactured by Robinson, with over 200 people working on the project for 18,867 hours.

Bluewater was opened in March 1999 and includes shops, cinemas and other spaces.
