The Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) is the only Scottish venue which has been selected as a finalist for the International Association of Congress Centres (AIPC) Apex Award Competition.
Some 27 locations, including the Aberdeen venue, have been chosen to compete for the title of the World's Best Congress Centre.
The AIPC Apex Award is given to a venue on the basis of a performance and customer satisfaction analysis.
AECC managing director Brian Horsburgh noted the global meetings market has become increasingly competitive.
"So, we are delighted to be shortlisted for such a distinguished international award."
He added: "What makes this award even more special is that is it not decided by an awards committee. The winner is decided by feedback from local, national and international clients that have used the AECC in the last year and really know how we work."
Other finalists include the Belfast Waterfront and Brighton Centre.
