The Association of Event Venues (AEV) held its largest annual conference yet on 14 November 2025 at ExCeL London, drawing over 280 event professionals. This year’s theme, “Accelerate. Shaping the future of venues,” set the tone for a day focused on innovation and industry progress.
Host Sam McNeill opened the event with plenty of energy before introducing keynote speaker Rob May, who discussed practical ways venues can embrace AI to enhance customer experience and improve operational efficiency. A power panel then explored new growth opportunities, followed by sessions covering the Protection of Premises Act and current political developments.
The afternoon programme featured Henry Rose Lee speaking on generational dynamics in the workplace, followed by Beverley Churchill, who offered insights into viewing venues through a retail-focused perspective. Delegates also heard from supporters like Voyage Control, highlighting the importance of smooth logistics and exhibitor satisfaction.
Pre-conference activities included an icebreaker at ExCeL’s Fame Factory, a breakfast hosted by Momentus Technologies, and a morning run with the AEV run club. Several university students and lecturers attended through the AEV Academic Associate programme, adding an educational dimension to the day.
AEV Director Rachel Parker thanked speakers, sponsors, and partners for helping deliver their biggest conference yet, noting that the programme gave attendees plenty to reflect on as they look ahead to the future of the industry. The day ended with Sam McNeill’s lively three-minute mic session, where delegates could ask any questions without filters.
