Aviemore venue chosen for ski instructors' conference

Choosing Aviemore as the venue for the International Ski Instructors Association's (ISIA) annual conference is a "great coup" for the town, it has been claimed.

Roz McDonald, of the British Association of Snowsport Instructors, told the Aberdeen Press and Journal that the event will be good news for the Highlands town.

More than 130 delegates from 38 countries are expected to descend on the Macdonald Highland Resort when the conference is held at the Aviemore venue from May 11th to 14th.

In addition to participating in workshops and seminars to examine how the popularity of skiing can be fostered, attendees will be able to visit distilleries, play golf and ascend to the summit of nearby mountain Cairn Gorm.

Ms McDonald told the newspaper: "This is a prestigious international event and we will be pleased to welcome our international ski colleagues from all over the world in a few weeks."

The ISIA was formed in 1971 to examine ski technique, methodology, teaching and safety.
