British Sporting Legends Support Future Champions at Altitude

Jaguar Academy of Sport chose Altitude 360° to host a ‘striving for excellence’ workshop for sports stars of the future.

The Academy’s Rising Stars were invited to Altitude as part of The Academy’s commitment to Mentoring and Education, to attend a workshop and Q&A with some of Britain’s most successful sportsmen and women. Giving up their time to support the initiative were David Beckham, Sir Ian Botham, Gareth Edwards, Dame Kelly Holmes, Denise Lewis and Sir Steve Redgrave – all sports stars that have, at some point, defined their respective disciplines.

The day comprised a series of workshops as well as Q & A sessions with patrons. Workshops were held on topics the rising stars are expected to encounter, from ‘what it takes to be world class’ to ‘mentally preparing to be world class’.

Making full use of the potential of premier venue Altitude 360°, each of the workshops was held in a different area of the venue. Each area allowed guests to enjoy spellbinding views over London, from views over Chelsea to Knightsbridge, Parliament and the river Thames.

Taking a well deserved break from the series of workshops, the rising stars enjoyed lunch high above the streets of London. Guests chose from a selection of bowl food; including spinach and ricotta tortellini with a tomato sauce, wilted rocket and parmesan, mini burgers in brioche and chicken Caesar salad with croutons.

The day included a meet and greet session, allowing the rising stars to spend a few precious moments with sports stars such as David Beckham and Kelly Holmes. The stars then got a chance to have photographs with the inspirational patrons.

Jaguar Academy of Sport Patron David Beckham commented: “I’ve really enjoyed spending time with the 2012 Rising Stars, they are all clearly very talented young athletes and asked some really great questions, I hope the answers myself and the other Patrons provided will stick with them and help on their journey to the top.”
