Convention Centre Dublin opens

The Convention Centre Dublin has opened its doors for the first time and already has 150 confirmed events in its books.

The venue has been in development and under construction for the last 40 months and will be Ireland's first-ever purpose-built conference centre.

Its line-up of events are expected to deliver approximately €110 million (£90.66 million) and the Dublin venue's capacity can reach up to 8,000 people.

Brian Cowan, the taoisearch, said that this would play a key part in the country's economic recovery.

He said: "The opening of the Convention Centre Dublin marks the beginning of a new era for convention and business tourism in Ireland."

Mr Cowan added that the launch of the venue would allow Ireland to win a greater share of the market and to attract high-value visitors.

Last November, the Convention Centre Dublin announced that it had confirmed approximately 200,000 international delegate days to support the country's business tourism goal.ADNFCR-1752-ID-800061097-ADNFCR
