GCCC moves step closer to venue redevelopment

Gloucestershire Country Cricket Club (GCCC) has moved one step closer to developing its stadium, including improving conferencing and hospitality facilities.

The Bristol club wants to become one of the chosen venues for international cricket matches by increasing the seating capacity by 4,000, creating a world-class media centre and upgrading the gym facilities.

Planning officers at Bristol City Council have decided to recommend approval of the two applications submitted by the club to redevelop its existing stadium.

Councillors will make a final decision on the plans at a meeting on March 10th.

"It is difficult to stress the importance of the proposed developments to our long term future in Bristol, not only for the county team and the club as a whole but also for our surrounding community," said Rex Body, chairman of GCCC.

Lancashire County Cricket Club is also currently undergoing redevelopment of its Old Trafford ground, including improving conference and banqueting facilities.
