Glasgow venue gets business boost

Event organisers at the Scottish Exhibition + Conference Centre (SECC) are currently celebrating after announcing that the SECC will host a series of medical industry conferences.

The conferences will bring some of the leading medical associations in the UK to the Glasgow venue.

Over the next two years, the British Society of Interventional Radiology, the British Oncology Pharmacy Association, the British Academic Conference on Otolaryngology, the British Society for Rheumatology and Diabetes UK will hold events at the venue.

The SECC is also hosting a RenewableUK event this week, while the UK Stroke Forum is also planning to hold an event at the venue this month.

"These are brilliant events for the SECC; we have the delegate pool to deliver attendance growth and the venue capacity for them to expand in the long term," said Ben Goedegebuure, sales director at the SECC.

He added that the wins were a welcome boost and will be great for the city.

Earlier this month, the SECC announced the appointment of Will Whitehorn as non-executive director.
