Glasgow venue honours Rod Stewart

Rod Stewart is the latest star to receive the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre's (SECC) Champion Award, it has been announced.

The singer received the Glasgow venue's prize after readers of the Glasgow Evening Times nominated their most memorable concert at the SECC.

Stewart is one of the 25 organisations and individuals being recognised for the positive impact they have had on the business over the years, as part of the SECC'S 25th anniversary celebrations.


Speaking at the presentation the singer, who is known for hits such as Baby Jane, All for Love, Your Wear it Well and Maggie May, said it was "no secret" that he loved coming to Scotland, adding that he always have a great time in the country.


John Sharkey, chief executive of the Scottish venue, added: "We are delighted to present our 10th Champion Award to Rod and thank the Evening Times readers for their support and selection.
