HBAA announce new vice-chairs

HBAA, trade association for the hotel booking agency, apartment and venue community, has welcomed Leigh Cowlishaw and Dawn Jaynes as association and venue vice-chairs respectively.

Director of supplier partnerships at Capita Travel and Events, Leigh Cowlishaw becomes association vice-chair and will support new association chair Jacqui Kavanagh with her plans to develop the association throughout 2015. She will also continue her work with the executive committee as chair of the technology, innovation and sustainability committee.

Leigh commented on the appointment: “It will be great to have this opportunity to work on implementing Jacqui’s new strategy. We’ve built an exciting executive committee and we will continue to drive the association forward and shape it for the future in line with the industry and technology developments.”

Dawn Jaynes, director of sales for Mercure & Mice UK - Accor UK & Ireland, stepped in to lead the association’s venue membership strategy for the latter part of last year, following the departure of the association’s venue chairman, and will now enjoy a first full year as venue vice-chair. She will support venue chair Hayley Stokes, before stepping into the role herself in 2016.

Dawn explained: “I’ve been heavily involved with the HBAA for numerous years and the past few months have given me a great insight into understanding what our venue members want from the association. I’m looking forward to hitting the ground running and helping Hayley to achieve her objectives.”

HBAA chair Chris Parnham added: “We are thrilled that Leigh and Dawn will be bringing their unrivalled experience and influence to these key positions within the HBAA’s executive committee. We’re continuing to see growth across the association and will be looking to build on the tremendous work and results achieved last year. 2015 is looking to be our biggest and best year as we develop ongoing membership numbers and benefits which I’m positive the new committee team will deliver.”

The announcements coincide with Jacqui Kavanagh taking over from Chris Parnham as HBAA chair following the association’s annual dinner on 16 January.
