Major international conference venue ExCel London has joined the Hotel Booking Agents Association (HBAA) in a bid to maintain effective communication with mediators.

ExCel London hopes to benefit from the organisation's £2.1 billion buying power and hailed its recognition as the pre-eminent association in the business travel sector.

James Rees, director of conferences and events at the venue, said: "Agents play an important part in our business and our joining of the HBAA ensures we continue to communicate with this audience."

ExCel London is currently in the running for Venue of the Year and the Association of Event Organisers Excellence Awards, with the winners due to be announced next week.
