As part of UBM Live’s long term strategy to evolve International Confex, the event will move from Earls Court to London’s International Conference Centre & ExCeL London in 2012.
Explaining the decision, Jonny Sullens, Portfolio Director of the Confex Group says: “It’s never an easy decision to move venues. International Confex has enjoyed a long and successful partnership with Earls Court, however taking our long term plans for the event into consideration we have decided that London’s International Conference Centre and ExCeL London is best placed to meet the event’s needs in the foreseeable future.”
Sullens continues: “The close link ExCeL London has with London City Airport will make Confex more accessible to international visitors and exhibitors whilst the forthcoming developments including Crossrail and the proposed cable car will provide easy access for UK visitors. The synergy between the show and hosting it at London’s International Conference Centre is key to the growth of the International buyers’ programme going forward.”
Simon Parker, Group Director, UBM Live says: “I would personally like to thank Nigel Nathan and the team at Earls Court for the never wavering support they have provided to us for over a decade. We’ve made a strategic decision to move Confex from Earls Court, but this in no way ends our relationship with EC&O. We look forward to continuing our partnership with them working on the many events we have at their venues including Total Workplace Management, Energy Solutions and M&E – The Building Services Event, Technology for Marketing, Internet World and Call Centre and strengthening that partnership with potential launches in the future.”
Nigel Nathan, Group Managing Director of EC&O, who was part of the original Confex launch team, commented “We wish them all the best with the move. As one of London’s leading venues we are very proud of the instrumental part we’ve played in the growth and success of International Confex and look forward to seeing how the show develops in its new location.”
"This year’s show will be visually better than ever, taking full advantage of the unique facilities Earls Court offers, Sullens adds “We’ve made significant investment this year in a hosted buyer programme which will see more than 350 senior decision-makers brought into the event.” International Confex will take place at Earls Court One from 1-3 March 2011."
