Midlands ready for most prolific opening of the decade

The Ricoh Arena, part of Lime Venue Portfolio, is preparing to usher in a new era of venue versatility with the completion of its latest expansion on Friday, May 14th.

Valued by event organisers as the UK’s most central location – under two hours’ drive from England’s biggest cities and 75 per cent of the population – the Ricoh Arena in Coventry will reveal the fruits of a £3 million investment programme which began in January 2010.

Joining an unmatched range of specialised suites, lounges and a majestic 38,000-capacity multi-purpose stadium bowl, will be a newly enhanced and expanded conference and exhibition area. This is one of the largest investments in the Midlands this year and is testament to the demand for flexible spaces.

Enhanced conference and exhibition facilities at the Ricoh Arena will include:

Three new exhibition halls with retractable walls, boosting capacity from 8,000 to 10,000 and event space from 6,000 sqm to 8,500 sqm.

An ultra-flexible 650-seat indoor auditorium featuring state-of-the-art sound proofing technology and audio visual capabilities.

A remodelled arrival area for the exhibition halls, with a new entrance, stairway and balcony, improving accessibility for the southern side of the Ricoh Arena.

Work on a new entrance to the on-site 71 Rooms and Silk Suites Hotel will be completed in June 2010, bringing added convenience for guests moving between accommodation and conference areas.

Angus Houston, Executive Director at the Ricoh Arena, said: “Event organisers appreciate flexibility and convenience, and our new areas have been designed with these requirements in mind. This is the biggest development at the Ricoh Arena since our opening in 2005, and we are thrilled at being able to welcome more delegates from all over the world.”
