Multi-million pound renovations planned for London venue

The Olympia is to undergo multi-million pound renovations, it has been announced, as owners EC&O Venues prepares for the demise of the Olympia's sister venue Earls Court.

According to the company, the fabric of the historic London venue is to remain unchanged; however, the internal space will receive a facelift in order to make it both easier and more flexible for event organisers to use.

Currently, EC&O Venues is planning changes to the West Hall and Olympia Two. A floor will be added to the West Hall, where links to the Grand Hall and Olympia Two will be created.

Olympia Two will also be refurbished to "create better exhibition and conferencing space", EC&O Venues group managing director Nigel Nathan said.

He added: "We believe the investment will provide organisers with newfound flexibility for their events and enhance the visitor experience."

Last month, the Earls Court and Olympia were awarded prestigious silver and gold sustainability gradings by Green Tourism for London.
