New international role for De Boer UK Managing Director Peter Spruce

Peter joined De Boer in 2003 as Commercial Director and was appointed Managing Director for the UK in 2005 – at a time when the main focus of the business revolved around short-term rental of temporary structures to the events and exhibitions industry.

Under Peter’s leadership, De Boer has developed a highly successful commercial division in the UK, providing businesses with long- and short-term solutions for additional space requirements. The flexibility, diversity and high-quality of De Boer’s structures has demonstrated they can be adapted for a multitude of uses from warehousing, offices and retail stores, to factories, airport facilities and even temporary prisons.

As the commercial division has grown, De Boer has maintained its market-leading role in events and exhibitions where it continues to provide facilities for some of the world’s most prestigious events including golf’s Ryder Cup, Chelsea Flower Show and Farnborough International Air Show. Last year was De Boer’s busiest ever events season with the company also supplying structures to London 2012, a project overseen by Peter. Now, as Managing Director UK and International, Peter will focus on developing business opportunities around the world – with a special emphasis on the Middle-East, Scandinavia and Spain.

Peter said: “We are already working on major and exciting projects in Spain and the Middle-East and I believe there is fantastic scope to grow our business in these key areas.

“An important part of my new role will be to manage our international operations and mobilise the expertise built up in our established regions to develop business elsewhere. Vastly improved communications these days allows you to be more fluid, you actually don’t need to be tied to a single headquarters building anymore. We can now take a global view of our entire business to identify where support and resources are needed most and move them from one country to another, as and when required.”

Peter, who will remain based at De Boer’s UK headquarters at Brackley, Northamptonshire, will be spending much of his time travelling to the international centres now under his leadership including Barcelona, Spain, and Doha, Qatar as well as De Boer’s Corporate HQ at Alkmaar, Holland.
