In what could be the start of a new trend, The Portland Spa Conference & Banqueting Centre is adding six high-quality serviced apartments to its facilities. Each apartment is equipped to a high standard and is much larger than an equivalent hotel room.
The apartments are designed to give business and leisure travellers the flexibility, privacy and space they need. As the Portland Spa’s managing director, Andrew Coupe, explained: “We have identified a demand for high quality, good value accommodation, particularly by organisers of events at The Portland Spa, where our customers need to be on hand for several days during the planning or implementation of major events. With these luxurious apartments, we are in a position to offer a unique and premium service that is both practical and affordable.”
Every apartment comes complete with its own high-specification kitchenette, bedroom area and en-suite bathroom, and have already attracted interest from exhibition organisers, corporate event management companies and organisations running staff team building and training courses at the venue.
The advantage of this type of accommodation over hotel accommodation is primarily the fact that the team running the event can literally stay within the actual venue itself and be on hand 24/7, yet can still escape to a relaxing environment at any given point in the day.
The addition of the apartments completes the first phase of venue’s luxury on-site accommodation plans. The construction of an 80 bedroom four-star hotel is well underway and due to open in October 2008.
