An award-winning Newcastle hotel has joined forces with one of the region’s largest venues to drive conference business to Tyneside.
The Sandman Signature Hotel has set up a partnership with Sodexo Prestige, which runs the catering and events at St James’ Park, to offer a 24 hour conference package for anyone holding a conference, meeting or event in Newcastle.
NUFC has some of the region’s largest conference and banqueting facilities but, until now, organisers have had to sort out their own accommodation for overnight events.
The new deal with the Sandman Signature Hotel, which is across the road from the football ground, means that organisers can hold their events at NUFC and enjoy a special rate for their accommodation.
Paul Smith, General Manager of the Sandman Signature Hotel, commented: “This is a mutually beneficial relationship and will also make life much easier for anyone organising conferences and events who want to use the excellent facilities at St James’ Park but also need accommodation.
“We’re delighted to have entered into this partnership which is also strengthening our relationship with Sodexo Prestige at NUFC.”
Sam Doyle, sales and marketing manager for Sodexo Prestige for NUFC said the new package would be of huge benefit to anyone looking to the city for an event: “NUFC has some of the best and largest conference facilities in the region.
“The fact that anyone attending a meeting or event at St James’ Park and wanting to extend that overnight can now do that at a preferential rate will benefit not just ourselves and the Sandman but the city as a whole.”
To launch the package, the 170-bedroom Sandman Signature Hotel – voted Best Large Hotel of the Year in the North East Tourism Awards – will give the main booker of an event a complimentary upgrade on their room at any time of the year.
Any bookings made in August will see all delegates given an automatic upgrade to a suite, subject to availability.
St James’ Park offers some of the most extensive conference and events facilities in the North East, including the Bamburgh Suite which can seat up to 1000 guests for a dinner.
The stadium also has a whole range of suites, boxes and rooms – some with a view of the pitch – which can accommodate every size of meeting and event.
