SECC selects AEG facilities for Scottish National Arena

Considered to be the best in the business, with a track record of dealing with over 100 of the industry’s leading venues worldwide, AEG Facilities will work with the SECC, covering event programming, naming rights, sponsorship and other revenue generating resources ahead of the SECC Scottish National Arena’s launch in 2013.

Expected to have in excess of 1 million visitors a year, the Scottish National Arena will be ranked one of the top five busiest arenas in the world, further cementing Glasgow’s position as a premiere destination for large scale international events.

“The Scottish National Arena will position both Glasgow and Scotland at the forefront of the global event and entertainment industry” comments John Sharkey, SECC CEO.

“We’re committed to working with the very best businesses to achieve this ambition and AEG Facilities has a track record in turning excellent facilities into internationally recognised entertainment brands. This is our vision for the Scottish National Arena and AEG Facilities will help us make this vision a reality.”

“The Scottish National Arena partnership fits within AEG Facilities’ strategy of partnering with the world’s leading venues in major capital markets,” said Bob Newman, AEG Facilities Chief Operating Officer. “We are honoured to work with the SECC Glasgow and believe that Glasgow is one of the most dynamic and vibrant markets in the world.”

The dramatic new venue, designed by Foster + Partners and situated on the SECC campus alongside the River Clyde in Glasgow. On completion of the project, the SECC will become one of the most sophisticated venues in Europe to provide specialised conference, exhibition, and concert facilities on one site.

Plans are already underway to build a series of onsite hotels to cater for the growing domestic and international visitors that are set to attend events at the SECC and the new Arena.
