Southport Conferences and Davies Tanner partner for research project

Southport Conferences and specialist PR and communications agency Davies Tanner have announced that they will be teaming up to work on a research project looking at the habits of business travellers and their desire for extending business trips for leisure.

Davies Tanner will help to devise a project to look at the behaviour and popularity of business extenders in the UK. The initiative aims to analyse how visitor programmes can be made more attractive for the business traveller, establish the sort of trip that would best suit an extension and look at opportunities for driving revenue in the area.

Principle Marketing Officer at Southport Conferences, Steve Christian, explained: "Over the Autumn months of 2013 we embarked on a successful ’Stay and Play’ campaign targeting business travellers and encouraging them to extend their visits in Southport for leisure. As a result, we feel the desire is there for business extenders, but we want to take this knowledge further, along with the support of Davies Tanner, to see what shape these visits take, their duration, format etc. and in turn make sure our offerings are as accessible as possible for the business traveller to use."

Alistair Turner, PR Director at Davies Tanner, added: "We are delighted to be partnering with Southport on this research. The topic of business extenders is cropping up more and more within our industry, so there is real potential that this report will prove to be of some considerable value to the sector."

The Business Extenders Survey is available to participate online at www.surveymonkey.com/s/Z8RYXTY until 31 January 2014. The results are expected to be announced in February, with further discussions due to take place at International Confex in March.
