Telford venues get £2m makeover

Two hotels in Shropshire are set to get a multi-million pound upgrade to bedrooms and public areas.

Southwater Event Group, which owns the two venues, has already begun work on the project to update the bedrooms at Grays Hotel and The Holiday Inn in Telford.

The rooms will be totally refitted with new fixtures, fittings, furniture and bathrooms as part of the £2 million programme.

Improvements will also be made to public areas of the hotels and the upgrades will be completed in stages over the next three years.

"By updating and improving the bedrooms at both Grays Hotel and The Holiday Inn, we will ensure the standards at all three of our hotels are what our customers expect - first class, modern and comfortable," said chief executive of Southwater Event Group Tom Gray.

The upgrades are part of the company's wider development plans, which include creating a new 1,000 capacity conference suite at The International Centre in Telford.

Improvements are also being made to 16 Hilton hotels around the country as part of a £20 million refurbishment programme.
