The Møller Centre, Cambridge-Rewarded for Outstanding Service and Business Excellence

The Møller Centre has gained the highest overall score to date in England across all hospitality and catering sectors accredited by Hospitality Assured.

The purpose built, dedicated management training and conference venue based in the grounds of Churchill College, University of Cambridge, initially achieved Hospitality Assured accreditation in 1999 / 2000 – with a score that was well in excess of the minimum required to gain the Standard. Since then, each annual re-assessment for Hospitality Assured has shown an improvement in the overall score – which is a significant achievement in itself. Gillian Holdom, Director of The Møller Centre said “We are delighted with the continued improvement in our score. The fact we are now number one in England and number two in the United Kingdom is a reflection of the professionalism and high standards that our staff are committed to delivering to our customers. We will be aiming to improve our scores in 2009.”

Philip Stanley MIH, General Manager of Hospitality Assured, added: "By achieving The Hospitality Assured accreditation The Møller Centre has proven that it is not just talking about service excellence and great customer experiences but actually has processes and procedures in place to ensure that this happens on a consistent basis. This is by no means the end of The Møller Centre’s service excellence journey but is a fantastic result. I am delighted to congratulate Gillian Holdom and her team on their fine achievement in gaining such an outstanding overall Hospitality Assured score.”

Stuart Websdale, who has been the venue’s General Manager since 2004, is delighted with the outcome. “Hospitality Assured accreditation is focused on the customer experience and the accreditation process helps us to measure our performance in every area of the business – from sales and marketing to operational delivery,” he explained.

To have achieved the highest Hospitality Assured overall score within England across all sectors is absolutely fantastic – it is a huge compliment to the team and is a tribute to their dedication and commitment. Hospitality Assured allows us to benchmark ourselves against our industry, and share ideas and best practice that can significantly benefit us, but more importantly, our customers.”

Over the last year The Møller Centre has expanded, building an additional six meeting rooms which has increased capacity by 50%. These meeting rooms are designed as collaborative learning environments offering extremely flexible space to organisers. In addition, air conditioning has been installed in all bedrooms and three executive bedrooms have been created, bringing the total number of bedrooms to 71; catering facilities have been expanded through an additional kitchen and private dining room.
