The Olympic Torch comes to Stoke Mandeville Stadium

On Monday 9th July the Olympic Torch will shine its light on Aylesbury. It will pass through the town from 11.15am and will end up at Stoke Mandeville Stadium at approximately 12.45pm where over 1500 school children will be welcoming its arrival.

Tickets are available to current Stoke Mandeville Stadium Members and regular stadium users, with a maximum of two tickets per member. There are limited numbers so members are encouraged to apply online as soon as possible from http://torchrelaysms.eventbrite.co.uk/ quoting ‘wheelpower’ as the password, please ensure you have your membership number available.

Ian Seabrook, Business Development Management at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, said: “We are really proud and honoured to have been listed on the London 2012 Olympic Torch route. It’s going to be extremely exciting for both the Stadium and the local community to share such an historical moment. 2012 is a big year for the Stadium – the torch relay, the launch of the Paralympic torch relay and the unveiling of the statue of Sir Ludwig Guttmann.”

The stadium will be closed from 7.00am until 2.00pm as it is expected to be extremely busy throughout the morning with spectators, and there will be no parking on site for non official vehicles.
