Use of separate venues to be among 2010 wedding trends

Couples will be moving away from the "exclusive use" wedding packages, instead getting married and having the reception in separate locations, according to an expert.

Rachel Southwood, director at Wedding Ideas Magazine, said that ceremonies and receptions will most likely be held at two different venues this year rather than all being at the same place, which has been the most popular choice in recent years.

They will return to the more traditional route of church or registry office followed by the likes of a hotel or village hall, she suggested.

Seasonal flowers will also be a key trend for weddings in 2010, as couples look to save on cost and also reduce their environmental impact.

"The English country garden look is going to become even more popular [this] year," she continued.

Couples looking for inspiration for their big day can get plenty of tips at wedding fayres being held across the country this month, such as at Shuttleworth Park Country House in Bedfordshire.
