Vale Resort gives the UK’s most marvellous massage

Wales’ largest spa at the Vale Resort in Hensol, officially gives one of the UK’s best massages according to the leading authority on spa reviews.

The Good Spa Guide named the Vale Resort the winner of the Marvellous Massage category in its Good Spa Awards 2012 for its unique Sundari Odati massage treatment.

To win this coveted title, the four-star Welsh resort beat off competition from some of the most highly rated hotels in the UK, including the five star Gleneagles in Scotland.

Anna McGrail, director of the Good Spa Guide, said: “We gave the award for Marvellous Massage to the Vale Resort because our spa reviewer practically floated home from Wales!

“The treatment room was beautiful, the Sundari products fragrant and gentle, and the therapist both skilful and informative. Everything you need to really relax.”

The Sundari Odati massage is an ayurvertic traditional Indian inspired treatment that is individually tailored to your own personality type or ‘dosha'. A dosha consultation takes place at the beginning of your treatment to determine the products to be used that most suit your requirements.

The award-winning massage begins with a foot ritual to start the relaxation process, followed by massaging the back and face, while Sundari products are applied to treat the skin. The Vale Resort is currently the only spa in Wales to use the Indian-inspired Sundari products.

Claire Caddick, Spa and Leisure Manager at the Vale Resort, said: “We are really honoured that our massages have won such a prestigious award, especially as we were up against some of the most well-known hotels and spas in the UK.

“We always work hard to offer something a little special for our clients. Not only are we the only spa in Wales to offer the Indian inspired massages, as opposed to the more conventional Thai-based treatments, but we also work directly with product houses to develop our own unique treatments.

“It is this level of skill and innovation that helps us to stand out from our competitors and keeps our customers coming back for more.”

The Vale Spa underwent a £250,000 refurbishment last year, which enabled it to launch a number of exclusive new features, such as its four relaxation zones.

The new facilities saw the Resort as a runner up in the Residential Spa of the Year category at the Professional Beauty Awards and achieving a five-bubble rating from the Good Spa Guide, the highest rating of its kind.

The Vale Spa has also opened its own funky Chai Cafe which also offers boutique shopping, complementing the Resort’s existing 19 luxury treatment rooms, four relaxation zones, 20m swimming pool, Jacuzzi sauna and steam room.

The Vale Resort is based in 650 acres of historic Welsh countryside, in Hensol, the Vale of Glamorgan. As well as the five-bubble spa, it offers all the facilities expected of the highest rated four-star hotel in Wales including an AA Rosette restaurant and two championship golf courses.
