Brides-to-be are advised to let the professionals decide where flowers should be placed in wedding venues, according to an expert.
Florist Paula Pryke said that it is a good idea to give a budget for flowers to event organisers.
They can then decide how to use this to best effect to decorate venues.
"The florists will probably know where it is better to have flowers, where it is better not to have flowers, and where you can just use lights and candles," she explained.
Ms Pryke said that venues can often refer their clients to a florist, however there is also the option of using events directory websites and magazines to find the best professionals.
She advised brides-to-be to spend plenty of time with prospective florists.
Couples should look at the professionals' portfolios and discuss their own ideas about how the venues will be decorated.
Ms Pryke was speaking at the National Wedding Show, held last weekend (October 2nd to 4th), which featured more than 300 exhibitors and a variety of live features, including a catwalk show.
