SECC endorsed by events industry

Ahead of the 2014 Commonwealth Games, leading event booking agents are flocking to Glasgow’s Scottish Exhibition + Conference Centre (SECC) for this year’s Summer Eventia.

The event will see SECC host over 250 top event delegates from an industry that is worth £827m to Scotland, accounting to 20% of total tourism spend and puts Scotland firmly on the map as THE place for the events industry to do business.

From 4 -6 July delegates will take part in debates and gain insights from brand leaders such as Google. Sessions include advice from the Vancouver Convention Centre where Claire Smith, vice president, sales and marketing, Vancouver Convention Centre will present ‘The View from Vancouver: What London 2012 and Glasgow 2014 can learn from the Vancouver experience’.

Claire Smith said; “The insights and learnings that Vancouver acquired from hosting the Winter Olympics will be invaluable to the UK events industry and will help destinations, venues, agencies and suppliers capitalise on the forthcoming Olympic and Commonwealth Games.”

The SECC is the UK’s largest integrated venue making it a fitting venue to host the events and live marketing industry’s annual summer conference.

The conference will include leading keynote speakers, topical discussions and a variety of workshops. These sessions will cover key event industry issues, such as global trends, financial modelling, human resources, corporate social responsibility, technology, sales techniques, industry standards and health and safety.
