Share a Positive Impact campaign has been launched today (15th November). The campaign is designed to create a global collaborative vision for a more sustainable events industry and calls upon anyone working within events to share examples they’ve seen of sustainability in action online.
Examples can be shared at shareapositiveimpact.com and via social media channels including Pinterest and Twitter using #shareapositiveimpact. Visitors will be able to flag those they find inspirational and share with their own social networks. Contributors will be able to see how many people have been inspired by their examples of a positive impact and a map will plot where in the world these ground-breaking examples are taking place.
Positive Impact Managing Director, Fiona Pelham, commented: “We all recognise that, although there are some great steps being taken towards sustainability in the events industry, more could still be done. This campaign is inspirational, easy to use and will showcase real global leadership in this area. We’re asking everyone to share what they’ve seen and provide inspiration so that this vision for the future can become a reality.”
To kick-start this important campaign, the first 200 people to visit shareapositiveimpact.com will be invited to share sustainability in action and test the site’s functionality before a second phase of contributors are invited in early 2014. Once 200 places have been filled, additional visitors will be invited to sign-up for email updates and encouraged to share content via social media.
The Share a Positive Impact campaign is supported by Meeting Professionals International, the UK Business Visits and Events Partnership, the Association for Events Management Education, the Sustainable Events Alliance, the Positive Impact Sustainability Experts Group, the Convention Industry Council and the Green Meetings Industry Council.
Positive Impact is a volunteer secretariat on the campaign. To keep the momentum of this vital campaign rolling, Positive Impact has developed tiered sponsorship packages for interested financial supporters.
